About Me:
After passing the matriculation exams (which is Basic Education High School in Myanmar), I enrolled in the Yezin Agricultural University (YAU) to study agricultural sciences and related subjects. I obtained the Bachelor of Science in agricultural in 2008. After graduation, I got involved in conducting agricultural research at YAU, as I recognized that doing agricultural research and looking for innovative solutions in agriculture are ways for helping farmers and develop the agricultural sector in Myanmar. In 2010, I participated in the AGROSTUDIES Agriculture Capacity Training program in Israel for one year. There, I had learned about agricultural development policies and strategies of Israel and when I came back to Myanmar in 2011, I shared the experiences with a brief report to Ministry of Agriculture in Myanmar. In 2012, I received an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to attend a master program at Ghent University in Belgium. I chose the joint International Master of Science in Rural Development (IMRD) because agricultural based country like Myanmar inevitably needs many rural developers and policy makers to boost at rural development. I had followed several rural development courses such as rural project management, rural sociology and social sciences, agricultural economics, and natural resources management, etc during the international master degree program. In 2014, I obtained my MSc degree in rural development. During my studies in Belgium, I was appointed as a country representative of Myanmar ERASMUS MUNDUS ASSOCIATION (EMA) for three years until 2016. I have been involved in EMA promotional events, and shared the scholarship information to the perspective students in Myanmar. I have provided guidelines to the new candidates (and the scholarship students), and taken voluntarily mentorship assignments and attended the coordination meetings along with EMA. I have carried out many studies with the development organizations in Myanmar. Moreover, I have done several field research and surveys in Dry Zone and Delta Areas of Myanmar. I have published a few academic journals and research papers.I am now pursuing a PhD in agriculture and climate change at Ghent University in Belgium with funding from WWF-EFN (World Wildlife Fund_ Russell E. Train Fellowship) with a research on “Food security in the light of climate change: Agricultural’ adaptation strategies in Dry Zone and Delta Areas of Myanmar”. at the same time I am working as a research associate at the Centre for Economic and Social Development (CESD),an independent and non-political think tank supporting evidence-based policy mobilizing development resources in Myanmar.Contact me at [email protected] if you want to get involved in YPARD Myanmar activities.
