LAUNCHING NOVEMBER 2022

Extension and advisory services are crucial in keeping current farmers and future farmers interested in producing food and contributing to food security. However, extension and advisory agents face similar challenges to young farmers in entering and staying in the sector, including access to opportunities, credibility, and support.

To tackle the problem and its root causes, EUFRAS has partnered up with YPARD (Young Professionals FOR Young Professionals for Agricultural Development) to bring forth the EUFRAS-YPARD Young Advisors Mentorship and Training Program which aims to encourage youth toward a career in extension services and more specifically, to understand the value of being in RAS and their contribution to food security.

This program, which will launch in November 2022, will offer training and mentoring to young advisors in the European region with a focus on sustainable and just food systems. The benefits of the program include the opportunity to practice hard and soft skills that can offer young advisory agents the tools to have an effective and rewarding career in extension and advisory services. Additionally, participants will have the chance to receive the CECRA (Certificate for European Consultants in Rural Areas) Full Certificate.

Both YPARD and EUFRAS are thrilled to embark on this collaborative project to ensure that young professionals have the tools they need to thrive in today’s competitive market.

You can read the full course description here!

Annual survey

It is that time of the year where we take the time to reflect on the work that we have done in YPARD in 2021, but also look forward to 2022. Here, your feedback and experience of YPARD in 2021, is very important to us! The work that we do is to ensure that we are providing young professionals in agricultural development with the tools needed to be agents of change. This survey will help us identify the areas that we are thriving in and areas that need improvement. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes and will remain open until January 31st, 2022. Allow for your voice to be heard and continue to work with us to shape YPARD!

Policy & Advocacy Working Group

The Policy Working Group will be a volunteer group of YPARD members, including YPARD leadership (Country and local Representatives, Regional Coordinators, Steering Committee members, etc.) which discusses and agrees by consensus on thematic policy positions for the YPARD network. The advocacy activities of YPARD will be based on the policy positions which the YPARD Working Group formulates. If you are passionate about advocating for the agri-food systems which young professionals want to see in the world, please share your views while learning about policy advocacy and building your CV with the YPARD Policy Working Group!

Mentorship & Capacity Building Working Group

The mentorship & capacity building working group is a great opportunity for you to get involved in YPARD projects focused on enhancing mentorship projects and capacity building workshops for professionals. Within this working group, we will define the topics of interest from our members for workshops, webinar and gather feedback for our upcoming re-vamped mentorship program in 2022.
