Tell us about your partnership initiatives for youth inclusion for agricultural development!

On August 12, we will be celebrating the Youth on International Youth Day. The assigned theme for 2012 is: Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth, meant to celebrate and solicit action together with and for the youth!

Initiated by the UN Secretary-General, this event encourages for multiple stakeholders to discuss how to strengthen partnership mechanisms to support youth inclusion in their empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.

It is fundamental for YPARD to join forces with key partners to utilize the expertise of different stakeholders, avoid duplication of efforts, join voices and get our community of young professionals, their needs and opinions heard! It is only by working together that we can respond to global challenges in a sustainable manner! YPARD particularly focuses on areas such as employment, entrepreneurship, political inclusion and education for agricultural research for development.

“To unleash the power of young people, we need to partner with them.” ~ United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

International Youth Day 2012 also enables the showcasing of best practices in implementing successful partnerships with young people. This could help to address “concrete recommendations on how the United Nations and stakeholders around the world can build and enhance partnerships with youth.”*

The UN invites us to celebrate International Youth Day 2012 by sharing our efforts to partner with and for youth, for a better world!
