Jordan (Middle East) will host the Global Land Forum (GLF) from 21 to 26 May this year. This event is organized every three years by the International Land Coalition (ILC), and for this year's version the Global Land Forum Youth will take place for the first time.
According to Mike Taylor, director of the ILC, the GLF "Is an opportunity for Jordan to show how it is building an inclusive and 'people-centered' land governance system. It is also a crucial time for the global land community to come together to address the complex linkages between land governance, sustainable food systems, overcoming inequality and building democracy".
Regarding the Global Land Forum Youth, young people from different parts of the world will exchange knowledge, strengthen a global network and build an agenda that allows them to face the challenges that young people have when accessing land and protecting their territories around the world, especially in Jordan.
The event will have a total of 100 young participants, between 18 and 35 years old, who are part of regional initiatives in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Fifty of them will be from the host country. The youth event, organized by the Ministry of Youth of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and co-organized by SEEDS consists of thematic debates, interactive sessions and training.
One of the Latin American participants is Juan David Caro Alvarez, a member of the representation area in the Ypard Peru Chapter. "I am excited by the possibility of contributing to a process that will positively inspire/impact young people who want to work the land and identify with their own territory." says Caro.
In addition, Caro is part of the movement 'Rural Youth Latin America and the Caribbean. We are Land and Territory', composed by an articulated group of 30 young people from ten countries of the region.
"From the movement, we have drawn up an agenda with proposals focused on five axes: climate change, access to land and management of natural resources, traditional knowledge, food systems with an agroecological approach, and the right to communication and political participation. We are enthusiastic not only to present it, but also with the possibility of it being taken into account for the global agenda", explains Caro.

This is the first time that the event will be hosted by a country in the Middle East, being part of an important and expanding region for ILC.
In this regard, Khalid Hunifat, Minister of Agriculture of Jordan, comments that the forum is an opportunity to connect with those who share their goals as a country to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. "With our national priority being to achieve food security, the land sector receives great attention from His Majesty King Abdullah II"
To summarize, ILC is a global alliance of civil society and intergovernmental organizations working together to put people at the center of land governance. The shared goal of ILC's more than 250 members is to achieve land governance for and with the people at the country level, responding to the needs and protecting the rights of women, men and the communities living on and of the land.

Jordania (Medio Oriente) será el escenario del Foro Global de la Tierra (GLF), que organiza cada tres años aproximadamente la International Land Coalition (ILC). El evento tendrá lugar del 21 al 26 de mayo del año en curso y en el marco de las actividades, se realizará por primera vez el Global Land Forum Youth durante los dos primeros días del evento.

Con respecto al Global Land Forum Youth, jóvenes de diferentes partes del mundo intercambiarán conocimientos, fortalecerán una red global y construirán una agenda que permita enfrentar los retos que tiene la juventud para acceder a la tierra y proteger sus territorios en todo el mundo, especialmente en Jordania.
En total se contará con la presencia de 100 jóvenes entre los 18 y 35 años, que hacen parte de iniciativas regionales en Asia, África, América Latina y el Caribe y Europa, Medio Oriente y África del Norte. El país anfitrión tendrá una cuota de 50 participantes. Este evento que es organizado por el Ministerio de la Juventud del Reino Hachemita de Jordania y coorganizado por SEEDS consta de debates temáticos, sesiones interactivas y capacitaciones.
Uno de los participantes de América Latina es Juan David Caro Álvarez, miembro del área de Representación en la organización YPARD Perú. "Me emociona la posibilidad de contribuir a un proceso que afectará positivamente a jóvenes que quieren trabajar la tierra e identificarse con su propio territorio", dice Caro.
Además, este joven hace parte del movimiento 'Juventudes Rurales América Latina y el Caribe. Somos Tierra y Territorio', conformado por un grupo articulado de 30 jóvenes de diez países de la región.
"Desde el movimiento hemos elaborado una agenda con propuestas enfocadas en cinco ejes: cambio climático, acceso a la tierra y gestión de recursos naturales, conocimientos tradicionales, sistemas alimentarios con enfoque agroecológico, y derecho a la comunicación y participación política. Estamos ansiosos de presentarla y de que sea tenida en cuenta para agenda global" explica el joven.
Foro Global de la Tierra (GLF)
Será la primera vez que el evento es organizado por un país en el Medio Oriente, parte de una región importante y en expansión para ILC.
Al respecto, Khalid Hunifat, ministro de agricultura de Jordania, comenta que el foro es una oportunidad para conectarse con quienes comparten sus objetivos como país de lograr la Agenda de Desarrollo Sostenible 2030 "Con nuestra prioridad nacional para lograr la seguridad alimentaria, el sector de la tierra recibe gran atención de su Majestad el Rey Abdullah II"
ILC es una alianza global de la sociedad civil y organizaciones intergubernamentales que trabajan juntas para poner a las personas en el centro de la gobernanza de la tierra. El objetivo compartido de los más de 250 miembros de ILC es lograr la gobernanza de la tierra para y con la gente a nivel de país, respondiendo a las necesidades y protegiendo los derechos de las mujeres, los hombres y las comunidades que viven en y de la tierra.
