We finally did it! Tech4agri on TV

We’re live!

We finally did it! Check out our latest promo above.

Tech4agri is now airing on local television station SynergyTV! It is nothing short of a milestone. As previous blog posts will show it was long and difficult road to get here but we actually did it.

This television station airs locally but is part of the FLOW cable service line up of stations. This means that the series will air in 7 Caribbean countries – Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Curacao, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

We are fortunate to have the series air 4 times a day from Mon – Fri and then 3 times a day on weekends. This is amazing for us! Why?

By being on TV we are able to offer advertising and sponsorship options, which for most stakeholders is a better option that partnering with a web only programme. Not to worry, Tech4agri will always be a blog but stakeholders simply “get” tv. To them they see more value in their dollars…we hope.

Let’s back track a bit

Many other things have happened over the last few months. We unfortunately lost what little funding we had due to excessive delay in getting our episodes up. It was one of our biggest failures but a lesson learnt. However we certainly not daunted because now we are on our way to success.

We always say- Stay Dedicated!

Despite that failure Tech4agri made it to the finals of the Caribbean Innovation challenge (CIC)! The CIC is a business innovation competition hosted by the Washington DC based, Young america’s Business Trust (YABT) We hope you were following our progress on our instagram page. The competition was one of four that all make up the Talent and Innovation challenge of the Americas #TICamericas

We did not win but we did make great connections, received kudos from the judges and even caught the attention of an investor. All around it was a great experience.being interviewed as finalists in the Caribbean Innovation challenge part of the Young America's Business Trust

When great things happen!

Tech4agri also got it’s first real video production job by submitting a proposal to the Trinidad office of the Caribbean Agricultural Research and Development Institute. (CARDI) This job is ongoing…we guarantee the editing process is the most difficult. We visited Guyana and Grenada, a packed and tiring trip but quite worth the while.

The job consisted of visits to several agricultural stations and to farmer’s land which was all once again documented on instagram. We were even able to get footage for our web series so not only is it a learning experience as our first job but also we gain content for you, our readers and followers.Team Member Renaldo goes to lengths to get the shot while in Guyana!

And lastly we were able to earn the final spot in the Ag Reporters program hosted by the German Guild of Agricultural Journalists. The guild is part of the International Federation of Agricultural Journalist (IFAJ). Many would be unaware of this association but Tech4agri has been following their exploits for three years! The reason why is clear…we are agri journalists.

This year’s IFAJ congress was held in Bonn, Germany a place we are most familiar with. As we sometimes feel like one of the only agri journalists in the Caribbean region, it was quite the honor to be there and a humbling experience all around with almost all participants being just like us, even with the high level of diversity in participants. See below one of our Instagram videos from the trip.

To conclude, you would have noticed our absence on the blog but we kept things going by micro blogging. We post to Instagram which automatically updates our Facebook, twitter and by extension the blog itself.

Nevertheless we are back to basics, continuing what got us here to this very point: blogging

Stay with us for updates and Stay Dedicated!

We are going on an adventure!
