Welcoming the YPARD Cambodia representative: Ratana Oeurn

We are delighted to welcome the incoming YPARD Cambodia national representative: Ratana Oeurn

Ratana possesses a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and a Master Degree in Rural Development and Project Management from the Build Bright University in Cambodia. Since 2012, Ratana has served as the Director of the Community-based Integrated Development Organization (CIDO), a Cambodian non-governmental organization based in Cambodia.

Prior to that from, 2004, he worked with other international organizations as a manager of various projects working on poverty reduction in Cambodia. Under his leadership at CIDO, Ratana developed projects to enhance food security and income of more than 10,000 poor Cambodian households in northwest Cambodia.In partnership with Green Shoots Foundation, UK, Ratana has led his team at CIDO on an astounding project that promotes sustainable, environmentally-friendly sound agriculture through the setup of chemical free vegetable gardens in public schools and more than 5,000 students have gained knowledge and vocational skills from this project.

With more than ten years of experience in non-governmental organization, he has extremely enriched his professional career in fundraising, human resource management, project management, monitoring and evaluation. Ratana was granted various fellowships and he travelled to many countries for different international training, workshops and exchange programs such as Cooperative Development in the Philippines in 2010, Social Business in Kenya-Africa in 2011, Monitoring and Evaluation and Impact Assessment on Food Security and Nutrition Program in the Netherlands in 2013, the YSEALI Professional Fellow in the U.S in 2014, Sustainable Agriculture in Denmark in 2015, YSEALI Summit in Kuala Lumpur in 2015 where he met with the past President of the United States, Barack Obama, YSEALI Alumni TIES in Bangkok in 2016 and the Up-to-date Indicators in Food Security and Nutrition Program in South-Africa in late 2016.

As the new YPARD Cambodia representative, he will be taking the lead on the YPARD network and promoting opportunities, events, featured ARD news for Young Professionals and in turn increasing the membership base in the country. This is what he had to say on the account of joining YPARD;

 

“I feel very honoured to be offered the opportunity to become YPARD Cambodia representative. Through YPARD, I will be able to contribute more to my country’s development. Moreover, I will be able to engage Cambodian professional youth and other professional youth across the world to tackle issues related to agriculture and climate change using this giant global network. Also, I will be using YPARD platform to communicate with members in and outside Cambodia, especially on the sharing of agricultural news and events."
