Welcoming YPARD Turkey representative: Eren Taskin

Eren Taskin, YPARD Turkey representativeWe are delighted to welcome our very first YPARD Country representative for Turkey: Eren Taskin.

Eren studied Agricultural engineering and Horticulture in Ege University of Izmir, Turkey. After his studies, he took a master on Organic Agriculture in CIHEAM Institute of Bari, Italy where he had the opportunity to learn a lot from experiences of many specialists who work on issues related to organic agriculture.

In that institute, Eren conducted laboratory experiments and wrote his thesis on the evaluation of some insecticides in terms of efficacy on a vineyard pest and undesired impacts on its natural enemies.

Currently, Eren is a 1st Year PhD student at the University of Bari, where he also studied during one academic year for an Erasmus exchange program. Eren works in environmental issues on soils at the Department of Agricultural Chemistry.

“I chose Agriculture as my career mostly due to my passion for everything which is related to nature. Agriculture is synonym to Food, Sustainability and Environmentally Friendly Agriculture, the best ways to build a safe future. Therefore my main objective is to find solutions to problems that current agricultural practices create.”

Becoming YPARD national representative in Turkey represents a new challenge for him in order for the youth to contribute to a transforming agriculture in Europe in general, and in Turkey in particular.

“I will build bridges among other young agricultural professionals like me in my country and will connect them with other members abroad through YPARD. So the first thing on my ‘to do list’ as YPARD Turkey representative will be contacting them one by one.”

We can’t wait to hear more from the Youth-in-Agriculture in Turkey and we trust that YPARD Turkey will be successful in mobilizing the youth through Eren’s leadership.

Welcome on board, Eren!
