YPARD Uganda’s executive holds face-to-face meeting

With a common goal to transform the agricultural sector in Uganda, YPARD Uganda executive held a first face-to-face meeting. This is the first since they since they took office just several months ago. The meeting was to deliberate on key factors on how YPARD could contribute on to the development of agriculture and also make deliberations on what needs to be done for us to have an impact in the country.

Key to the discussions was how best YPARD Uganda could bring Ugandan youth into the agricultural sector and how best to change the mindset of many who still think agriculture is an “old fashioned” sector, mainly undertaken by failures in life.

They also evaluated what has been achieved since YPARD Uganda chapter was instituted. The team applauded Sylvia Natakunda Mwesiga who had been at the helm of the chapter’s affairs as a country representative until earlier this year.

Among the issues discussed was YPARD Uganda’s successful participation in the Climate Based Adaptation (CBA) Youth Conference that focused on how best the youth can serve as agents of climate action to build resilience and institute mitigation avenues to curb the global challenge of climate change.

The members of the executive also reviewed the 2017/18 work plan and then deliberated on how best to enforce and have it implemented.

The current YPARD country representative for Uganda, Paul Zaake asked the executive members to spread the gospel of the YPARD global vision in a bid to be agents of youth empowerment through agriculture.

More updates to come.
