Only two weeks to go and the Committee for Food Security 43rd session kicks off in Rome Italy.  Under the theme Making a Difference in Food Security and Nutrition, the session looks at discussig and adopting policy discussions that will propel the sustainable agenda and the food security agenda Sustainable Agricultural Development for Food Security and Nutrition, including the Role of Livestock as well as Connecting Smallholders to Markets.

To help amplify the messages and the discussions worldwide, CFS and the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR) has joined forces to have an onsite social media bootcamp as well as live reporting at the CFS. We are grateful to GFAR for having sponsored five YPARD members to be part of this experience. Meet Husein Shahadu (Ghana), Anudari Enkhtur(Mongolia), Melano Dadalauri(Georgia),  Mónika Varga( Hungary)  and Diego Valencia (Peru)  who will take part in the social media bootcamp and live reporting at the event.

Prior to the event, we requested the "big five" to write some blogposts related to the event and here they are;

To begin with, Husein Shahadu tells us of how an unfortunate incident at their family farm led him to agribusinesses and how important information sharing and dissemination is in agricultural development. He has noticed that almost everything we do can be traced to agriculture, and the general public needs to know and appreciate this. Beyond CFS43 , he want to help ensure that the importance of agriculture is known, and YPARD is the place to start.  Read more on his blogpost Growing the Future.

On the other hand, Diego Valencia helps us reflect on the commitment of young people to achieving the SDGs and more especially the 1st and 2nd one, regarding No Poverty and Zero Hunger? To end poverty in all its forms everywhere, and, to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. He believes #CFS43,will give the youth a platform to raise their voice as young professionals in agricultural development and to be listened at this important high level meeting. But all this made is made due to the social media platform. Melano Dadalauri  shares tips with us on how to navigate the vast world of social media in her pre- CFS blogpost Facing Challenges while Anudari Enkhtur  invites us all to join her and the team of social media reporters at the CFS43. And who can say no? Read more on his blogpost Lets Rock the Youth With #CFS43 Social Media Bootcamp!

Last but not least, Mónika Varga  brings to our attention the interconnectedness of various sectors. Agriculture has so much to borrow from engineering and vice versa and being an engineer herself, she believes in networking about networks. Indeed, the agricultural arena shows a number of aspects connected to each other and working together - they themselves build their own “network" because complex global problems need global thinking. Don’f forget to tune in from 17th- 21st October with the hashtag #CFS43.
