“Me voy renovada y nutrida.

MAXIMA Workshop: "Empowering young rural women developing environmental initiatives"

The face-to-face workshop 'Empowering young rural women environmental leaders', organized by MÁXIMA, a project executed by Ypard Peru, successfully ended on October 23th.

During three days, the workshop brought together twenty young rural women leaders from different territories of Peru, in Chosica (Lima). One of the twenty young participants was Yduvina Pizarro Córdova, representative of the Association of Agricultural Producers and Artisans of Colcabamba, Cajamarca (Peru), who shared her experiences as a farmer of 19 varieties of ñuña, which she grows on her land, and also shared her work as a Kallwa loom artisan.

"We have come from different territories to bring our experiences and learn about ourselves, in order to progress as part of the MÁXIMA network," said Yduvina during the workshop.

This event was an opportunity for renewal, as highlighted by Mercedes, one of the participants. "I leave renewed and nourished. We need to support each other. I realize that I am not alone; I have all of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have given me during these short days".

Eliana Antezana, member of the organizing team and Advocacy Coordinator at YPard Peru, expressed her pleasure at being a member of the workshop's organizing team. "The objective is to be able to weave networks and feelings in order to continue strengthening the advocacy processes in our territories," she said.

Damaris Herrera Salazar, Coordinator of the Máxima Project, also said that "The workshop has been an opportunity to bring together young leaders to nurture their initiatives. Bringing together rural women from different villages in the country has been a titanic effort, not only for the organizing team but also for the women themselves. For many of them it was the first time they left their communities and came to Lima.

MAXIMA would like to thank all the organizations that made this workshop possible.
