of Agricultural Sciences, University of Hohenheim, has an opening for a post-doctoral

The post-doctoral researcher will participate in on-going research projects of the Department,
for example regarding impact assessment of microfinance and safety net programs using
panel household data in Cambodia or Ethiopia, analysis of changes of land tenure and
agrarian structure in China, and institutional analysis of agricultural cooperatives and contract
farming, and quantitative analysis of poverty and food security. Subject to his or her research
interest, the fellow will identify one or more selected research areas in the field of rural

week) at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level in agricultural and rural development economics.

Successful candidates should have a very good Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in agricultural
economics, economics, economic geography, or related discipline. An in-depth knowledge
and experience (to be documented through publications) is required in any one of the
following quantitative methods (applied econometrics, experimental economics, general
equilibrium models and social accounting matrices, spatial statistics/econometrics and GIS,
or agricultural sector models). Additional qualifications may include field research experience
in rural areas of developing countries, excellent command of the English language, and very
good computer skills. Proficiency in other languages (especially German, French or
Spanish), and teaching experience, are welcome additional qualifications.

The position can be filled on March 1, 2009 or later. Depending on qualifications of the
candidate, the position can be offered for an initial period of 2 - 3 years. The University of
Hohenheim strongly encourages qualified women to apply. Only short-listed candidates will
be contacted.
