About Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) Hub
The BecA Hub aims to increase access to affordable, world-class research facilities and to create and strenghen human resources in biosciences and related disciplines in Africa.BecA is an initiative developed within the framework of Centres of Excellence for Science and Technology in Africa. Hosted and managed by the International Livestock Research Insitute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya, the BecA Hub provides a common biosciences research platform, research-related services and capacity building opportunities to the region and beyond.

ILRI works at the crossroads of livestock and poverty, bringing high-quality livestock science, communications and capacity building to bear on poverty reduction and sustainable development. ILRI is one of 15 centres supported by CGIAR. ILRI has campuses in Kenya and Ethiopia, with other offices located in other regions of Africa (Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria) as well as in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka), Southeast Asia (Laos, Thailand, Vietnam) and East Asia (China).
