Description

The Young Professionals in Local Development (YPLD) looking for smart and energetic young professionals to join its team as “fundraising assistants”. The candidates will have the opportunity to build valuable fundraising skills within the nonprofit sector. The position will be paid upon a (generous) commission reward system whose amount will be communicated individually.

 

Activities

You will help YPLD build its donor database, identify grant opportunities, help write grant proposals, and assist the YPLD International Steering Committee with other activities as needed in regards to fundraising.
 
Such fundraising activities may include:
  • Securing recurring or longer-term funding (including seed money);
  • Raising funds for the participation of YPLD representatives to events such as Rio+20, Agriculture and Rural Development Day etc;
  • Securing sponsors for specific projects, reports and research;
  • Partnering with similar institutions/stakeholders for fundraising events and awareness building;
  • Contributing to the setting up of a long term fundraising strategy.
 

Skills Required

Essential:
  • Experience in fundraising(even a brief one);
  • Good written and spoken communication skills in English;
  • A passion for working with local communities and young professionals;
  • Good computer and social networking skills;
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, entrepreneurial spirit, “can-do” attitude
  • Be able to work on your own initiative and with minimal supervision;
  • Good team working skills.
 

Desirable:

  • Fluency in another language an advantage, but not essential

  • Experience in international travel or volunteering an advantage, but not essential

 

Other requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years and be willing to submit to a non disclosure agreement.
 

Workload

The time commitment for the fundraising assistant position is roughly 8 hours/week and can be managed in conjunction with studies or another position. All work is remote and managed via Skype and email, therefore this position is not limited by geographic location. The position timeline will be developed between you and your supervisor and may include emphasis on a particular area of interest.
