Internship Opportunity at CTA - Support in the organisation of an International Conference on ICT4D

Background:

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), an international organization based in Wageningen, The Netherlands, has an opening for an intern for a period of 6 months, renewable once. The intern will work as a member of the CTA “Policies, Markets and ICTs” Team.

Background:

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), an international organization based in Wageningen, The Netherlands, has an opening for an intern for a period of 6 months, renewable once. The intern will work as a member of the CTA “Policies, Markets and ICTs” Team.

CTA’s mandate puts emphasis on facilitating access, exchange and dissemination of information in the fields of agriculture and rural development. The “Policies, Markets and ICTs” (PMI) Programme and its ICT for ARD sub-Programme play a critical role in the realization of the above.

CTA is in the process of organising an international conference embracing the topics of Web 2.0 and Social Media, Market Information Systems and m-applications in the contexts of advocacy and value chain development. A team of will coordinate the organisation of the event. The Intern will work under the guidance of the project Team Leader (acting as Mentor) and collaborate with the other Team Members.

Responsibilities of the Intern

Under the guidance of his/her Mentor, the Intern will carry out the following activities:

  1. Assist in the organisation of the conference;
  2. Assist in the gathering and processing data for M&E purposes and for assessing project impact;
  3. Monitor the planned occurrence of international events in the domain of ICT4D, Web 2.0, social media and Market information systems (MIS) and maintain an updated calendar of events;
  4. Monitor, screen, summarize and share news relevant to the conference themes;
  5. Animate one or more electronic communities related to the themes of the conference;
  6. Perform other tasks as requested by the mentor.

Internship details

  • Start date: November 2012.
  • Duration: 6 months (renewable once)
  • Duty station: CTA, Wageningen, The Netherlands
  • Medical coverage: provided for the duration of the internship
  • International travel when reporting on duty and when completing the internship: not covered by CTA
  • Stipend

Profile

  1. University degree in ICT or communication-related disciplines;
  2. Experience and keen interest in the area of Web 2.0 applications;
  3. Maximum 30-year old;
  4. Recently graduated;
  5. Fluent in written and spoken English or French and ability to work in the other language (mandatory criterion);
  6. Good organisation, inter-personal and communication skills;
  7. National of either one European Union member state or of one of the ACP (Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific) States.
