The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is looking for someone with a PhD in soil and water engineering, irrigation engineering, agricultural engineering or a closely related field. The person should also be interested in working towards the improvement of agricultural water productivity in Africa. The position holder will be responsible for carrying out research for development in irrigation areas or areas which have the potential for irrigation expansion in Africa. To meet this objective, the person will seek solutions for the constraints to agricultural water productivity at farm, sub-regional and regional scales within a multi-disciplinary research environment. The position holder will be based at the Addis Ababa office of IWMI in Ethiopia, and will report to the Leader of IWMIs research theme on Productive Water Use.
