YPARD Global – Program Coordinator 1.0 FTE


Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week)

Location: Berlin, Germany (home office)

Type of employment: 12 month contract with renewal based on performance

Desired start date: 01 April, 2024 or earlier

YPARD is a network created by and for young professionals in agriculture and development, and our goal is to create the change we wish to see in the world together. We are a network of young agricultural professionals in over 65 countries with a network reach of over 30 000 young people. We cultivate robust relationships with important international actors from the United Nations and beyond.  To help us grow, we’re looking for a young professional with a can-do attitude to join YPARD as our Programme Coordinator. This position is based in Berlin, Germany and is open to people who are eligible to work in Germany. 

 

What is YPARD looking for in a Program Coordinator?

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences, International Relations, Social Sciences or a related field (required);
  • Advanced degree (masters, Ph.D., or equivalent) in agricultural sciences, social sciences, international relations or related fields or equivalent years of work experience (preferred);
  • Experience designing and implementing educational programs for young professionals (required);
  • Good understanding of food systems, agroecological and related approaches, as well as environmental governance (preferred);
  • Full professional proficiency (C1 or higher) in English (required);

 

  • Experience working with intergovernmental processes,  international institutions, and organizations, eg. United Nations agencies (preferred);
  • Intermediate level French or Spanish (B1 or higher) (preferred);
  • Experience in community organizing with an emphasis on youth, Sub-Saharan Francophone Africa or Latin America and the Caribbean (preferred);
  • Experience in building and expanding our network of volunteers (required);

Terms of Reference 

The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the active engagement of YPARD members in YPARD’s educational projects, including leading the YPARD cooperation projects building capacity building and advocacy. This position reports to the YPARD Director, and works closely with the Communications and Membership Coordinator and the YPARD Africa Coordinator. Responsibilities include:

  • Educational program management
    • Develop and implement educational offerings for the YPARD membership to build skills in food systems, especially in agroecology and food systems in low-resource contexts;
    • Collaborate with the YPARD team and YPARD partners, to develop and deliver further educational offerings, like the Global YPARD Cafe Webinar Series;
    • Cultivate further opportunities for partnership with YPARD by representing YPARD in key networks,
    • Seek to diversify funding sources to support additional programming, as needed.

 

  • Advocacy program management
    • Further develop the YPARD Policy Working Group as an educational tool for YPARD members while also allow them to express substantive policy positions;
    • Manage and further develop key advocacy opportunities, including planning side events, press conferences, etc. with YPARD advocacy partners;
    • Support the development of YPARD as a hub for youth and agriculture organizations  through linkages and collaborations with other organizations;
    • Advocate for YPARD members through presentation in boards, meetings, events, etc.

 

  • Contributions to YPARD’s strategic development
    • Review existing processes and develop new guidelines and processes for implementing and capturing impacts of YPARD educational and policy programming, in cooperation with the YPARD team;
    • Other duties as assigned.
