Sustainable Market Access: Strengthening Food Safety Practices Among MSMEs

In today's competitive and increasingly regulated food markets, compliance with food safety standards is not just a legal requirement but a critical pathway to sustainable market access.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly those in fresh produce and animal-source food value chains, face challenges in understanding and meeting these requirements. Yet, they remain key players in Africa’s food systems.

YPARD Kenya recognizes the need to empower young agripreneurs with practical knowledge and experiences to navigate food safety requirements and tap into formal markets—both local and international. This Café provides a platform to bridge the gap between science, regulation, and enterprise through youth-driven dialogue.

Objectives

-To create awareness on the importance of food safety compliance for MSMEs.

-To share lived experiences of young agripreneurs in implementing food safety practices.
