YPARD-UGANDA FARM DAY OUT 2025: Learning, Growing, and Leading with Agroecology

YPARD Uganda is pleased to announce that it's upcoming Farm Day Out 2025 event will be held on 9th August, 2025 at KCCA Farm, Kyanja.

Building on the success of YPARD Uganda’s inaugural Farm Day Out in 2024, which brought together over 60 young agripreneurs for hands-on learning, dialogue, and inspiration, the 2025 edition aims to deepen impact by incorporating a focused mentorship session on Agroecology. The event comes at a time when the call for resilient, sustainable, and youth-led agrifood systems is stronger than ever, and Agroecology presents a practical pathway for youth-led innovation, climate adaptation, and inclusive transformation.

Event Objectives

  • To provide hands-on learning and exposure to best practices in agroecology, urban agriculture, and agribusiness
  • To offer a platform for youth networking, knowledge exchange, and peer-to-peer mentorship
  • To promote sustainable agricultural practices through a mentorship session on agroecology
  • To strengthen youth voices and visibility in agricultural innovation and food system transformation

Target Audience

The event targets 50+ youth (18–35 years) from different regions of Uganda, including young farmers, students, agripreneurs, and mainly young professionals in agriculture.

Key Activities

  • Guided tour of KCCA’s Urban Farm in Kyanja
  • Agroecology mentorship session led by certified practitioners
  • Youth-led panel discussions and experience sharing
  • Team building activities
  • Sharing a traditional meal (Luwombo) reflecting environmentally friendly food serving and consumption
  • Networking sessions and breakout activities

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased awareness and adoption of agroecological practices among youth
  • Strengthened youth networks and mentorship opportunities
  • Enhanced knowledge of sustainable agriculture and agribusiness models
  • Motivated and better-connected young agripreneurs ready to innovate and collaborate
