About Me:
Dr Apeh Omede completed his PhD in Poultry Science (Nutrition and Digestive Physiology) from the University of New England in Australia. Before then, he completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Technology in Animal Science and Technology and a Master of Science Degree in Animal Management from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Nigeria.

He currently works with Teagasc - Irish Agriculture and Food Development Department as a Marie Curie COFUND Research Fellow under the Research Leaders 2025 Project. His current research (Milkobiome) is looking at the influence of porcine milk bioactive fractions and microbiota on gut health and immune development in pigs. He is currently based at the University of Leon, Spain as part of the out-going phase of his fellowship.

His interests cut across development of strategies for early nutrition in animals, improvement and utilization of alternative feed resources in animal nutrition using enzymes, physiological responses (digestive functions, gut development and gut health) of animals to such feed resources and as well as environmental and nutritional management of heat stress in animals as well as the interaction between nutrition, management and welfare issues in different animal species, especially monogastric animals. He has experience in experimental designs and their application in feeding trials in monogastric animal experiments.

Apeh is an Alltech Young Scientist award winner, as well as winner of some young scientist awards and travel grants from different Poultry Science Associations. He is open to collaboration in the field of Monogastric Nutrition, Digestive and Environmental Physiology.
