As an impactful example of local, youth-led agrocological entrepreneurship, Mr. Peter Ayile from Brida Family Group in Dokolo District, Northern Uganda showcased his agroecological products during the PELUM Uganda Agroecology Week of Action 2025. The event, held at Serena Hotel Kampala from 29th–31st October 2025, brought together practitioners, policymakers, and youth leaders to celebrate, connect, and inspire collective action for sustainable food systems.

Through YPARD’s lobbying efforts, PELUM Uganda generously provided exhibition space for Peter to represent his youth-led agroecology group. The Brida Family Group, composed mainly of YPARD members, promotes sustainable farming, value addition on agroecological products, biodiversity conservation, and youth-led enterprise development in northern Uganda.

At the exhibition, Peter displayed various agroecological products from his community, including local breed poultry and organic farm products including honey, peanut butter from indigenous peanut seeds, etc which drew attention from farmers, partners, and potential buyers. The experience offered him valuable exposure and an opportunity to learn from other agroecology actors.

“I was honored to represent our community and YPARD Uganda,” Peter shared. “This opportunity helped me connect with others in the agroecology space, make sales, and gain new business ideas to grow our venture. I am deeply grateful to YPARD and PELUM Uganda for this support.”

The Agroecology Week of Action highlighted the importance of youth participation in driving sustainable agriculture. YPARD appreciates PELUM Uganda for the collaboration and for creating spaces that elevate young innovators. Together, we continue to empower youth to lead, learn, and transform food systems for a more resilient future and YPARD will continue to provide spaces for meaningful youth engagement.
