E-Learning - UNITAR

E-Learning

Following the international calls to promote development through the use of ICT-based products, networks, and applications UNITAR has implemented a virtual learning environment, making a number of its training courses available online.

Currently a great variety of courses is offered in the area of public finance, trade, and intellectual property, including among many others courses such as Negotiation of Financial Transactions, Drafting and Negotiating Clauses of Loan Agreement, and Millennium Development Goals and Debt Management.

The successful experience in the area of public finance and trade has prompted the expansion of online courses. In the past two years some training activities in the field of multilateral diplomacy and environmental law were added to the online offers, including a Basic Course in International Environmnental Law and a course on Performing Effectively in Multilateral Conferences and Diplomacy. UNITAR has recently launched new e-learning course on Governance in Urban Sanitation. In Early 2009 a new series on peacekeeping training will be launched.

The Institute is working on a comprehensive expansion of its virtual learning environment so as to substantially increase its offers of online courses. Through a multiple-instructional setting, including blended learning models, the goal is the achievement of learning objectives with learning technologies that match personal learning styles, with the inclusion of non-linear learning, aiming at the development of just-in-time skills of adult learners.
